My husband and I both grew up in Petaluma California. Bodega Bay is about a half hour west of Petaluma. We have both spent lots of time out there over the years. It is a great place for it's wonderful birding opportunities. Bay Flat Rd is particularly fun. You can bird from your car there. August is great for shorebirds, even at high tide, which brings many of the birds closer to the road.
